As some of you might have known, the 2020 summer Olympics will be held in Tokyo, Japan. And on Monday, the organisers of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics have finally made a decision with their Branding for both the Olympics and Paralympic games.
Before the winning logo was selected, the Tokyo 2020 logo selection committee had to choose from a shortlist of four (shown below), after reviewing almost 15,000 logo submissions.
If you look at this shortlist, you can see that all of the designs are good. However, there could only be one winner, and that was logo A.
The winning logo (A) was designed by 46-year-old artist Asao Tokolo. Tokolo is a known artist in Japan who’s work have featured in a number of exhibitions.
“I was thinking of something like a colouring picture that everyone can add their own colour to“, Tokolo, 2016.
The concept behind the logo is rather creative and unique. Tokolo has managed to develop a logo that would get the 2020 Olympics viewers even more involved. We can predict that during the 2020 games, a number of people from the audience will have their own variation of Tokolo logo.
